Sentences

Sometimes when you are reading a book you read a sentence. You don't know why but it hits you.

"Sometimes I think my mother is part of the modern world and sometimes she seems a million miles away" from Bridget Jones's Diary.

It has happened to all of us hundred of times. And it isn't only with my mother (as Bridget says) but with other people. Sometimes they can understand you and your feelings like they live into your mind but it isn't all the times.

And then this sentence from our last reading book. ""Ray is crew-cut, reliable, myopic; he is full of liquids. He sweats copiously. Small bubbles of clear spit from at the sides of his mouth whenever he speaks at length. Laura imagines (it's impossible not to) that when they make love he must sput rivers... " from The Hours

It's wonderful, isn't it? Yes, I know, it's comical, funny. But the way he describes Ray, his words...

The descriptions in "The hours" are magnificent, you can imagine the characters but not only physically but also their emotions and feelings.

Comments

Thanks for your contribution, Nuroma. Yes, I agree with you! "The Hours" is an excellent book at descriptions. You can imagine so much and I am sure people can imagine different things even though the descriptions are the same.
Take care,

Some people have a good memory to retain sentences of books, films, speechs of celebrities and then they use it when they talk, it's way to attract the listeners.
In the other hand, I agree with you about The hours, I've liked it quite a lot.
